In July 2024, artist Sam Jinks was reunited with his 2010 sculpture Woman and Child when it returned to his studio to undergo conservation work. From the moment of its first display at Shepparton Art Museum in 2010, the artwork was warmly embraced by the Shepparton community, and after mere weeks of crowdfunding and contributions from the local council, the sculpture was acquired permanently into the SAM collection. This intimate film captures the unique relationship between the artist and his artwork, revealing the story behind Jinks’ journey to creating the tender portrait of a woman at the beginning and end of her life.
