Guest curated by contemporary artist Adam John Cullen, Three Hares brings together works from the SAM Ceramic Collection alongside responsive new works by artists Enrique Tochez Anderson, Tia Ansell, Jordan Mitchell-Fletcher, Kate Wallace and Philomena Yeatman. Three Hares examines the inherent qualities of ceramic objects, through groupings of form, texture and glazing; the show evokes Cullen’s perception of the creative process of making, collecting, and curating objects as an endless circle of interchangeable ideas and materials.

About the curator
Adam John Cullen (b. 1985 Yass, NSW) lives and works on Dja Dja Wurrung Country (Castlemaine, VIC). He holds a BA Arts, Fine Arts (RMIT University); Honours, Fine Arts (Monash University); and a Masters in Fine Arts (Victorian College of the Arts). Selected solo exhibitions include: Elton, LON Gallery, Melbourne (2021); ghost, Sarah Scout Presents, Melbourne (2019); three dogs, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei (2018); dissolve, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne (2017). Selected group exhibitions include, Charmed, CASPA, Castlemaine (2022); Primavera, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2017); TCB Art Inc, Aperto Gallery, Montpellier (2016); and Sidney Myer Ceramic Award, Shepparton Art Museum (2015). He has also undertaken residencies at Yellow Brick Studio, Athens (2022); Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei (2018); Tentacles, Bangkok (2018); Gertrude Contemporary Artist residency program, Melbourne (2017-2019); and KUNCI Cultural Studies Centre, Yogyakarta (2012). Cullen is represented by LON Gallery, Melbourne.
